A Halloween Mini from Karine!

Hi everyone!

Today let me show you a seasonal mini-book: 100% Halloween!

It has been entirely realized with Jenni Bowlin Studio products!

I selected pictures from 2010 when my son Maxence and I went to spend a week-end in Disneyland Paris!  So fun!

The papers (black, orange and navy blue) matched perfectly with my pictures! I had fun decorating this great unstructured format "Hodge Podge Book". I only added pictures and mini Halloween cards as extra pages: they were just perfect for my album!

As far as colour is concerned, I had fun adding a touch of green with the stars stickers, and some gold with these fantastic “leaves” rub-ons.

It is a really nice structure to work on. You can do anything you want with it, even give it a slight vintage look to your mini book!

Carving Pumpkins

Pumpkin carving pretty much tops our list of favorite activities  for autumn as a family - yes, we set aside a Saturday in October when we grab pumpkins (either from a local farm or grocer) and carve them together as a family. Time goes into choosing a personal design, and as the years pass, we have to help the boys less and less.

It's always fun to see their creativity shine through when we're finished!

I have loved this Halloween collection from Jenni for so long, it was amazing to have the opportunity to work with it this year! The navy blue is the perfect compliment to the bright orange, and by adding just a few neutral sheets from Haven and Modern Mercantile collections, my page just pops with that dark photo... A few touches of orange ink to the Alterable Alphas and remember this Banner Sticker, and I just love how this came out.

Hi!  Tina here today!

Halloween is my favorite holiday of the entire year.  I'm not sure what draws me to the season - perhaps it's the fall time weather, or the gorgeous colors in nature, or the fun ghostly characters of the holiday.  If I could decorate in Halloween decor the entire year, I surely would!

Today, I'd like to share a Halloween Home Decor project that was super fun to create, and will be cherished for years to come!

I filled each cubbie of my 7gypsies printer tray with all sorts of Jenni Bowlin goodies, vintage finds, and unique, one of a kind embellishments.

I aged Jenni Bowlin cards and stickers with alcohol ink and distressed the edges with Distress ink.

I even distressed several vintage die and metal clock hands.

I created these little 'potion' vials with cork, embossing powder, and glossy accents.  :)

Halloween Tags

Halloween is right around the corner and we have some wonderful ideas of using your supplies for this fun holiday.  Take a look at these gorgeous Halloween tags from Shimelle Laine.

Oh, Halloween! I haven’t had a trick or treater at my door in years… but I do love a bit of Halloween crafting and any excuse for pumpkins and sweets is completely up my street. Today Jenni Bowlin Studio brings you an entire treat bag full of Halloween goodies with a blog hop – and a chance to win some JBScraftery at each stop.

This little Halloween treat project is so quick and easy and perfect to do with scraps of paper. Start with the die-cut papers in kraft, add netting and ribbons and some of Jenni’s Halloween paper cut to two inch wide pennants. Staple all the layers in place. Attach it to a gift bag or card or use as an embellishment on a scrapbook page. And of course you can dress it up even more with your favourite orange embellishments: buttons, pearls or butterflies.

Mindy Miller Inspired by Jenni Bowlin

When I think of Jenni Bowlin I think of fun vintage touches, great use of white space, and just the right embellishments. Jenni has a way of bringing it all together and making it look effortless.

I thought I would try my hand at combining those design elements to create Halloween cards.

I used the new Weather Vane paint dabber with the Borders 1 foam stamps to create a decorative border along the edge of the card. Then I laced a variety of JBS buttons and embellishments on a piece of fiber and wrapped it around the card.

This month, the design team was asked to scraplift Jenni Bowlin herself, or include items or techniques in our project that remind us of that iconic JBS style.

Really?  Oh my!  I could go on and on about JBS style, but that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the design team now, would it! And after all, it's Jenni Bowlin products and kits that pulled me out of a scrapbooking slump in 2009!

One thing that is striking to me about Jenni's style is her ability to put glittery shine on any layout without it looking overdone or too fussy.  I tried to do the same in this Halloween layout.

I covered a Chipboard Star with a piece of the Vintage Halloween 2011 Mini Patterned paper, positioning it so I captured 3 patterns on the star. I added glitter to the edges of the star.

I also took a Black Doily Flower, covered it with a light coat of glue, and tipped it upside down into a plate of German glass glitter.  I then used a sticky foam square on a pencil to lift the flower straight up.  After it was dry, I took a paint brush and lightly brushed the extra off.

Two Ideas for a Fresh and Bright Vintage Halloween

Here are two ideas to help you celebrate Halloween!

One of my favorite Jenni Bowlin products are the Bingo Cards!  You can find them in many themes in classic Jenni Bowlin colors.  I've used them as embellishments, as mini books, as banners ... the possibilities are endless!  The classic colors work beautifully with all JBS product like the Halloween Bingo Cards and the new Vintage Halloween 2011 line.

In this layout, Jenni's Halloween Bingo Cards fit into a pocket in the layout and are used to hold my photos and my journaling on the back side.

I used the charming sheet of Starry Night cardstock and cut it to form the pocket. Foam tape is staggered inside the pocket so the Bingo cards stagger when placed inside.

The Bingo Cards make great little layouts themselves! The little "bee" accent on the Boo Card is made from a Cream Doily flower that was painted with a JBS Lemon Drops paint dabber and cut to form "wings".

The banner is made with the mini patterns from the Halloween Mini Pattern Sheet and vintage dictionary pages. The Doily flowers are beautiful accents for the banner and can be cut to form scallop shapes.

Here's a sweet Halloween duo from Ranjini:


I love Jenni's new halloween collection and wanted to make something quick and simple for halloween using the new paper collection. I especially love that the journaling cards are so versatile and can be used on a layout, as a gift tag, or a stand alone card. I chose to make a card and a mini treat bag. I used my diecutting machine to cut the little paperbag and assembled it (die from Papertrey Ink). Then I turned to some of my longstanding favorites - Jenni's rubons, vintage style buttons, label stickers and chipboard stars to mix in a bit of older product with the new. I applied the rubon to the oval shaped label sticker, then placed it on the bag with a pop dot. I then tied the button to the handle after threading it with baker's twine and whipped up the card quickly by adding a chipboard star, inked, embossed and glittered. I added the stamped sentiment with a Papertrey Ink stamp and die, using Jenni Bowlin for Ranger ink in Fountain Pen. Super simple and easy to do, and it's ready to fill with tiny treats and gift to your favorite little spook! These would also make cute favors for the class halloween party or for a coworker.

Vintage Holidays Halloween Mini-Album

Here is a quick and easy Halloween Mini-album for you made with a few simple supplies. To start off you will need a Circle Chipboard Mini-albm, a sheet of Vintage Holidays Halloween Mini Papers, and a Vintage Holidays Halloween Accessory Sheet. Cover three fourths of the front cover with the children trick-or-treating mini paper. Cover the bottom fourth with the orange dot paper. You can adhere them directly to the chipboard, cut off the excess, then smooth the edges with an Emory Board. Adhere Orange Pearl Buttons to two Black Doily Flowers. Attach two to the binder ring with small silver jump rings. Add Black Pearl Charms to the bottoms of the dangles with more silver jump rings. Add the Orange/Black Shadow Alpha Stickers for the title. Cut another Doily Flower in half and adhere it as shown, adding another Orange Pearl Button to one.

The insides of both the front and back covers are done with the White Dotted Paper. The back outter cover was done with more of the Orange Dotted Paper.

Adhere random thin strips of patterned paper to the circle ledger paper from the mini-album. Make lots of fun words for these pages from the sticker sheet.

When you cut out the labels from the Accessory Sheet, leave them stacked two and three high, so they will be as tall as the other pages in the book.

The pages here are arranged in this sequence: journaling card, circle page, mini-paper, circle page, journaling card, circle page, mini-paper, circle page, etc.

Put it all together and you are ready to record some Happy Halloween memories!
