Gorgeous Grid by Tina Walker

Hi!  Tina here today!

Grids are seriously one of my favorite design styles.  They can be used in so many ways and they always look fresh and fun!

To create the grid on my layout today, I used the 'Perf Mark' stamp. I stamped it 4 times in the center of my page, then began 'filling' each square with JBS goodness.  :)

I used 'Notebook Grid' (which is one of my FAVE paper tapes EVER) and 'Bleached Woodgrain' Paper tape for several of my grid squares and paper from 'Wren - Blueprint' for the other grid squares.

I wanted to add some dimension to my layout, so I punched several Quilt Stars and added them to my page with foam tape.  For more interest, I added Blue Pearl buttons and several of the new JBS sequins to each star.

My layout needed some 'flash', so I added several of the new JBS Gold rub-ons.  I {heart} the Gold Bubbles and Tiny Trims rub-on's.  They are divine!

I finished my layout with a pop of RED and viola!

Who's On First from Leah Farquharson

Leah created an amazing layout full of energy.  Doesn't it just seem to burst off the page?

When I saw my husband sharing the timeless Abbott and Costello sketch, "who's on first?" who our sons, I just had to snap a quick shot with my iphone.I appreciate all of the little things that he does to be a good dad to them - and I love that we have actually reached that stage in their life when we just plain enjoy each other's company.

Papers from the Wren and Boy Meets Girl collections were perfect together to set a masculine tone for this page about my guys!

And Jenni's choice of such timeless elements as watch faces, buttons and stamps made this layout come together quickly.

as a paper scrapbooker, I'm always on the hunt for a paper trimmer that cuts straight. I have been seriously impressed by this one from Fiskars!

And even though I'm a bit of a novice stamper, I have a feeling that this has the potential to make me much better! I loved how easy it was to get the image that I stamped straight, and even.

Hello, did you join in with the Play Date challenge? What a lovely lot of inspiration from the JBS DT and Ambassadors during the week...I'd like to also share my take on the challenge today..

for the background of this page I firstly added some gesso with a palette knife and once dry placed the exclusive stencil over it and created the pattern using a weather vane paint dabber

How cool are the new flatbacks range? I've used one from the 'icons' set along with a piece of the packaging behind the photo for contrast.. 

the other new release stamp is from the 'dictionary' set and I've just inked up a small amount of the text stamp and pushed it down with my finger rather than using a stamp block..

CHA-W Projects to Inspire : Part 1

CHA-Winter starts this week and I wanted to show you some projects that have been made using these wonderful and versatile products.  First up on our blog, is a post from Jenni using her new Clear Stamps.  Read on and be inspired!

Today I have been playing with our newest set of Clear Stamps - 6 different book sets (remember our Composition Notebook Stamp?  It has been long gone sadly but it inspired me to create several other sets.  It was hard to stop just at 6)!

To create these I used my Die Cut and Perforated Vintage Bank Statement Paper for the perfect plain vintage base (sized using the existing perforation marks for the fold).  Each set comes with a cover and an inside page.  There are so many possibilities here!  I think the Album Stamp, front and center here, is my favorite as you could put together a simple brag book as a gift really quickly.  I stamped the inside image onto the actually photos so I could trim them out perfectly to fit inside the frame.

I think you will love these as much as I do and you won't have to wait long!  We will begin shipping to stores at the end of the this month.

Junque Journals for Christmas

I love mass producing crafts for the holidays. This year, I'm making "junque journals" to give as hostess gifts or to top gift packages.

These are easy to create assembly line style and one sheet of Vintage Christmas 2011 Mini Patterned Sheet will make three journals.

A row of 3 squares of the Mini Patterned Sheet will serve as the journal cover and base. Here is the method I used to assemble these. You can make many journals at one time this way.

1. Create your "junque" pages by cutting up a bunch of old paper you may have around: ledger paper, graph paper, and notebook paper to a size of 3.75 inches square. Punch 2 holes in the top of the paper and place long gold brads in them. Punching through a lot of paper at once is easy with a Cropadile Model II.

2. Cut the Mini Patterned Paper sheet so you have three blocks across and score in-between each block.

3. Adhere the packet of note paper onto a square of chipboard 3.75 inches square with a strong glue (Alene's Tacky Glue for example) and glue this onto the inside of the middle square.

4. Cut about 1/4 inch off the right side of the patterned paper so it will fold over the pack of paper nicely when closed.

5. Decorate the front cover by stamping the Cabbage Flower stamp on off-white cardstock in gold and Stick Candy paint. Cut them out and score each in half. Glue the front half of the image to the front cover and further decorate with German foil and JBS Vintage Sew-on buttons and buttons from your stash. Fold over the Cabbage Flower image and adhere on the inside just along the bottom to make a small pocket and to cover any stitches that may show.

6. Cut the December calendars from the Christmas 2012 Calendar Sheet. Mat them onto gold paper and adhere to the inside back cover of the journal.

7. Tie a ribbon around the button on the front, wrap around the journal, and wind around the button again to hold closed.

JBS Summer Games - Tennis & Pole Vaulting

Hi everyone!  Waleska used a sketch for a tennis court as inspiration for her grid-style layout below ...

Inspired by the center service court section of the diagram I created a grid background. I used JBS perforated marks stamp, which I then stitched and filled with patterned papers from the Wren line and other stickers.

Are you loving the amazing JBS Summer Games Inspiration from the Team? I am!!

Today I want to share with you a layout I did based on the event Pole Vaulting. Initially I was going to do take a segmental approach and do lots of pattern paper piecing, but as you can see I changed my mind LOL :)

What I did was cut the card stock background up into pieces in the same pattern/design of the bar that the pole vaulters vault over! I then adhered it to another sheet of card stock and then machine stitched it down. as you can see in the below picture :).

I finished the layout using a variety of Jenni Bowlin Studio tags, rub-ons, stickers and embellishments. I also added a few extra splats of Fountain ink paint.

Inspired and Playing!

Our design team has been busy playing with our Jenni Bowlin Studio product, both new product from CHA-Summer and classic product you'll find in our store.

Summer is quite often a time of fun and games.  This year, we're not only playing games ourselves, we're glued to the TV watching athletes compete in the Olympics.  We asked our design team to play with our product and get inspired by the summer games.  We hope this series inspires you also!

One of my favorite summer events is gymnastics. I am amazed by the flexibility and fearlessness of gymnasts. In fact, my earliest Olympic memory is that of watching a gymnast (I'm pretty sure it was Bart Conner) on the rings. I admired him so much that I decided to face the rings on the playground and finally learn how to do a somersault. I may never have mastered the monkey bars, but to this day, I still get a rush just thinking about those rings.

It's pretty easy to guess, then, which event I decided to focus on as inspiration for this layout:

Using my circle cutter, I cut a bunch of circles and rings from papers in the Jenni Bowlin Studio Wren collection as well as from a few sheets of JBS die-cut paper. I even emulated a few pizza pies by using the new Stitched Grid stamp, stamping a square one way using Fountain Pen ink, and then angling the stamp to create "slices." This layout also gives you a peek at the new Red Skinny Alphas and one of the postage stamp label stickers. 

Deep dish pizza and rings galore -- this is how I like my Olympics.

CHA summer layout and mini album

It's been so fun seeing what the team created with the brand new supplies from this release! Today I wanted to share two projects that I made for the booth! The first is a layout using the stitched grid stamp:

And embellished with the chipboard quilt stars and tags!

I loved using the grid as a guide to stitch on the side of the page, and then fill all of the little spaces!

The last project that I created for the booth was a small book that I filled will all  kinds of goodies.
