Modern Mercantile Chevron Love

One of the most popular patterns in the new Modern Mercantile line is the Sundries Sheet with a whimsical and pretty chevron print. 

Amanda Jones loves this pattern too!  She explains just why and shows us a great layout in this post!

There are lots of things to love about the Modern Mercantile collection but one of my favourite things is the fun chevron paper!

 

I trimmed a section of the chevron paper to add across the bottom of my layout. The best part is, with the great mix of patterns, I can trim a similar section for another page and it will look entirely different.

 

I clustered the rest of my elements above the chevron and then echoed the pattern above with a few hand-cut triangles. I love this collection and can't wait to find more ways to use those chevrons!

Modern Mercantile Love

It's Jenni Hufford here sharing a "love" themed layout today using Modern Mercantile.

Who says a Valentine's Day or Love themed layout needs to be pink and red?   To be honest I really enjoyed using the fresh colors from the Modern Mercantile line to create this "love themed" layout!

I used a heart punch to cut various papers from the Modern Mercantile collection.   I layered the hearts in a grid pattern over a piece of vellum, and stitched the hearts in place.

I used two instax photos and bookended them to one of the "Noted" card in the Modern Mercantile Hodge Podge paper.

The focus on this page was to document a variety of things my family "loves" right now.  I chose a few items from the list and wrote on little hand cut banners and layered these over the hearts.  This is the perfect layout to include in my Project Life album for Valentines week!

Modern Mercantile Inspiration

There are so many different and creative ways our design team has been using our new paper line Modern Mercantile.  We'll be showing you examples this month.

Let's look at the softness Corrie Jones created in her layout below using the mini patterns in Etcetera.  From Corrie:

Modern Mercantile by Lisa Dickinson is just incredible.  All of my favorite colors all together in one line.  I love the colorful softness to the whole thing.  It just makes me happy.  I can totally see myself hoarding it.  My favorite sheet of paper is this one...

I love the smaller scaled patterns.  Plus I LOVE having them all on one sheet that I can cut out.  It is so much easier to store.  I had already used a fair bit of this sheet of paper and decided to use it all up.  I think it is a much better idea than hoarding.

I used up my scraps of this by punching the whole thing up with a star punch.  I had little star confetti everywhere!  This is happy stuff.

I love how the colors of the papers were perfect matches to the colors in my photos.  Just soft and beautiful.

I cut the word star out on my Cameo from a full sized sheet of Modern Mercantile paper and was pleased that the different Jenni Bowlin letter stickers also matched.

Megan Klauer and Modern Mercantile

Lisa's new collection Modern Mercantile makes me dream of summer days and much warmer weather. So, I pulled out one of my favorite photos from a few years ago. One that I have probably already scrapbooked somewhere but this time the photo made me think about how quickly time passes and how my kids are growing. It is a simply designed page with just a few easy techniques I'll share below.

Using the Chewing Gum Paint Dabber I was able to add a small splash of pink to my page. I first blotted some on the back of a scrap piece of the pattern paper. Using a punch I then created confetti to use under the vellum that I stamped the Jar on. 

I used it directly below the heart cut out on the "hello" piece as well as used it to stamp the heart next to my journaling.

And lastly,  I used a brush with the paint to pop the heart in the "sunshine" cut out.

Seeing Stars

Lisa Dickinson created a star studded page using her new line Modern Mercantile, new products, and some classic lines.  Lisa describes her process using a background die cut created with a cutting machine and more:
I love the versatility of background die cuts! They can add a subtle touch to the base of your layout, or they can be combined with patterned paper and embellishments to create a design focal point for your page.

I knew the star background from the Holiday Backdrops Kit Cuts would work perfectly with photos of my son's twelfth birthday. I enlarged it to 9.5 x 9.5 and cut it out of white cardstock, backing several of the stars with papers from the new Modern Mercantile line, as well as the bicycle section from the Magpie Mini Paper sheet.

 

My photos were adhered to the left side of the die cut and I backed the whole thing with the light blue patterned paper from the Modern Mercantile collection. For my title, I used the new Printer's Block Alpha rub-ons applied to one of the larger stars:

A piece of teal twill tape across the center of the die cut adds contract and leads the eye to my journaling tags, which I've slipped behind the die cut to keep the page design clean and uncluttered:

Because the die cut portion of my page has been adhered with foam squares, there is room to easily slide the journaling cards underneath them.

Finally, I added two of the Dominoes Chipboard Pieces to the upper right corner of my die cut. The two "six" pieces were perfect to indicate my son's age:
