New Inspiration from CHA

Introducing my full size, divided, reproduction Cigar Box!!  It comes fully wrapped with the vintage imagery you see pictured below (and last photo), although the bottom of the inside of the box remains kraft color.  It is perfect as-is for all of your studio storage needs or would make a GREAT gift box for a teacher, etc., filled with goodies!

However, my favorite use of course,  is to alter it!  This is my sample for show (using our new extension papers).  I created everything you see but I LOVE that you can add bits and pieces from your collection of vintage goodies too (like the flower frog and the old stamp pad shown here).  The box is not wood, but it is a very heavy board and is very sturdy.  And I love the fact that you could close this up and put it away easily for storage (image one for Halloween, one for Christmas, one for Valentines, etc.)!

I'm so very excited about this.  I hope you are too!!

Red/Black Extension III Die-Cut Paper

Here are several creative and inspiring uses for our latest die-cut paper, the Mercantile label shape from our Red/Black Extension III line. This first one is an exceedingly clever use by Harumi Hagiwara. She cut her sheet into four pieces and then merged them on a piece of background cardstock to come up with this brilliant design.

Elizabeth Carney has stretched her resources by cutting a sheet in half and using one side on this layout . . .

then trimming the border off and using the other half on this layout.

Here is another half sheet that Jenni Bowlin used. For her layout, she let the die-cut border be the edge of the layout and traced and cut out the same sheet on a piece of cardstock for the mirror version on the other side.

Keisha Campbells used two strips cut from either side of the die-cut to make classy bookends for her design area.

Ornament Tags by Doris Sander

I love the look of neutral papers tied with pretty (real!) bows and handmade tags. I created some little ornament tags with trims and papers from our Red/Black Extension III and Play Date Lines and then tied them on to my packages.

I used the large EK Success circle punch to make these. You will need to fold a piece of white cardstock in half and punch it along your fold so that you have an ever so slight flat edge on your circle. In other words, let the punch circle not cover the paper completely so when you punch through the two circles remain connected just a bit (like cutting connected paper dolls). You will also need to punch an additional circle from patterned paper and another from plain cardstock.

Decorate the front of your patterned paper circle with more patterned paper and trims. then adhere it to the front of your folder white circles.

Cut a 3/4 x 1 1/4 inch rectangle from black cardstock. Use a corner rounder to round one end slightly. Punch a small hole in this end. Adhere this rectangle to the back of your white folder circles so the the holed edge pops up from the top of the circles like an ornament hanger. Cover the back of your folded white circles with the circle punched from cardstock. Add a string to the hole and a greeting to the side of the tag. Tie a little bow or wrap a piece of wired trim around the top. This will hold the tag closed. Merry Christmas!

December Garland

An holiday garland that's just as easy to make as it is elegant!

Simply cover three chipboard stars with patterned paper, punch tiny holes through them and the December calendar die cut, then string them all together, adding buttons between each.
