May Flaum and the Quilt Star Punch

May Flaum here to do some creative frolicking with my new favorite Fiskars/Jenni Bowlin punch, a cool stencil, and the Modern Mercantile Papers too.

What i really love about this punch is that it can be used alone, or it is great in a group as well. You can see I used it to make a sort of grid to place under my title, and also under my buttons for added interest and almost a sunburst like feel.

My stenciling was done with ink and a bit of foam to rub it - I love the color I can get this way. I'm also loving the Jenni Bowlin Paper Tapes - which I've used for the first time here on this layout!

Quilt Star Punch Garland

The Fiskars/JBS Quilt Star Garland is one of my favorites.  Playing with it one day, I found that combining two Quilt Star punches can make the sweetest 3-dimensional shape.  Here's how I made the Quilt Star Garland shown above.

I used the Etcetera sheet from Modern Mercantile by Lisa Dickinson.  The colors are great for spring and I wanted my garland to welcome in spring.  The small prints work wonderful with punches too.

Layer two punches together - I always picked two punches from different patterns.  Holding the layers together, stitch down the middle of each grouping.  Sew them close together or far apart.  It's up to you.

Create the 3-dimensional effect when you're finished sewing your strand of stars.  Pull apart the quilt stars so the sides open up and are held together by the stitching in the middle.

Such a sweet garland for the spring.  And fun to make too!

Jenni Hufford : Spring Chicks

Happy Wednesday everyone!  It's Jenni Hufford here and I wanted to share a fun layout I made about our recent venture--- owning chickens!

I created a basic grid-- and of course had to add that rooster card and falt back!  The feather tags also went perfectly with my spring chick theme.

Adding pieces from the Modern Mercantile Hodge Podge Page as the base of my grid pieces. I placed them in a triangle shape.   The remaining spots I used "non square" items to add a different feel to the grid.

In one of the spaces I used the Quilt Star Punch and created a grid within a grid.

CHA-Winter 2013 : Star Studded Inspiration

Jenni posted another gorgeous layout using newly released product on her blog.  I just LOVE her grid design developed with the Quilt Star Fiskars Punch.  Here's her description and a little bit about more new product available for order!  From Jenni:

On this layout you will see a new product for us - flatbacks.  Also showing up here is a little price sign from one of our two new True Vintage selections.  I used my Quilt Star Fiskars Punch to create the background (sewing down the rows with invisible thread).

The flatbacks come in three styles, General Store, Reader (which matches the Modern Mercantile line) and Icons. . .

We also have 3 new Mini Decks (perfectly sized for Project Life by the way)!  I made adorable little books with the Book Cover and Basics sets (using our new Washi tapes for the spines).  I forgot to snap the picture but will share it when we get back.  The Fortune Telling set matches the Modern Mercantile line. . .
